What is an AC Drive?

An AC Drive Also Known as variable-frequency drive (VFD) (also termed adjustable-frequency drive, variable speed drive, micro drive or inverter drive) is a type of adjustable-speed drive used in electro-mechanical drive systems to control AC motor speed and torque by varying motor input frequency and voltage.

AC Drives are used in any application in which there is mechanical equipment powered by motors; the drives provide extremely precise electrical motor control, so that motor speeds can be ramped up and down, and maintained, at speeds required; doing so utilizes only the energy required, rather than having a motor run at constant (fixed) speed and utilizing an excess of energy.

Benefits of using an AC Drive

1.  Phase Coverter ( SIngle Phase 115V in and 230V 3 phase )

2.  Reduced Power Line Disturbances

3.  Lower Power Demand Controlled Starting Current

4.  Controlled Acceleration

5.  Adjustable Operating Speed

6.  Adjustable Torque Limit

7.  Controlled Stopping

8.  Energy saving

9.  Reverse Operation

10.  Elimination of Mechanical Drive components
